GC8 Shows Black/Blank Screen | How to Fix it | How to Upgrade GC8

Hello, my readers!! I hope you are doing well.

This is a common issue nowadays, but don't worry about it. There are two ways to fix it regarding software and drivers.

First, go over your connections and your cable, remember that GC8 must be connected to a Meeting Room Computer through fiber cable. If everything is well connected, let's get into windows.

I'm gonna show you how fix this issue, you only need to upgrade your drivers and your system. Now, connect a mouse and a keyboard to your computer, select More and Settings, and enter your admin password.

Default password is "sfb", and it can be changed through admin mode or AutoUnattend.xml file.

Click Windows Settings and Administrator, then enter the password.

Get into Windows Update, go to settings and select Update & Security

 Check for updates and optional updates, download and install them.

 You may view many updates to be applied, but check for specific updates.

  • Poly Inc. - USBDevice - 22.1.1.243
  • DisplayLink - Display - 10.2.6709.0

Couldn't see the mentioned drivers? Don't be scared, you need to install updates manually on Windows. Now, let's get into Poly Support here, select software releases and download GC8 package.

Note:  Firmware version is 1.4.1 for Poly and 22.1.1.243 for Windows.

Aren't you using the Conference PC? Copy the file on your Conference PC and unzip it.

Right-click the install Batch file and select Run as Administrator.

It's time to download DisplayLink driver here, click Accept to download exe file, and finally, install it.

After installing your driver, please wait a couple of minutes, it will take 20-30 minutes to complete the process.

Finally, go to device manager and identify the current version of your drivers. Open Display adapters and Universal Serial Bus devices.

Right-click Poly ULCC DFU Runtime and MTR_ULCC, and select Properties and Driver.

My PC is running newer versions, but any system must be running displaylink driver 10.2.6709.0 or higher and GC8 driver 22.1.1.243 or higher in order to use the PC and GC8 at the same time.
